Once we arrive, you’ll explore this incredible wonder of the world in a private walking tour, led by a professional English-speaking guide. Prepare for an unforgettable experience as we uncover the mysteries of this ancient Inca city!

Itinerary

On the second day, we recommend starting early and coordinating with your tour guide to catch the impressive sunrise at Machu Picchu and to avoid the crowds arriving from different train schedules.

Early Morning:
Your adventure starts with a bus ride up to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, you’ll begin your guided tour inside the citadel. The tour lasts approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, where our professional English-speaking guide will help you discover the fascinating history and details of this ancient Inca city. You’ll have the opportunity to take the best postcard photos and explore the most iconic areas of Machu Picchu.

Hike to Machu Picchu Mountain:
After the tour, you can embark on a hike up Machu Picchu Mountain, a stunning adventure that offers spectacular views and an incredible experience. The hike provides a unique perspective of the citadel and is perfect for those looking to take more breathtaking photos. On the way back down, you’ll still be inside the Machu Picchu site, giving you time to explore other areas on your own.

This 2-day hiking tour allows you plenty of time to experience Machu Picchu to its fullest.

Important Note:
We suggest booking this tour at least one month in advance to ensure availability for Machu Picchu Mountain tickets on your desired day.

Return to Cusco:
After your exploration, you will take the bus back from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes. Here, you’ll have time to enjoy a delicious lunch before boarding the Expedition Train back to Ollantaytambo. Depending on train availability, you’ll depart between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm.

Once you arrive at Ollantaytambo, our transfer driver, identified by the INKA TRAIL PERU.INFO LOGO, will be waiting to take you back to Cusco, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel.

The climate in our country is highly variable and does not follow the traditional four seasons. Here, in just one day, you can experience all four seasons! That’s why we recommend our visitors be prepared for any weather conditions, whether rain or sunshine.

A very important factor affecting our climate is global warming, which has become a major concern due to the melting glaciers in the Peruvian Andes. This phenomenon also impacts the usual weather patterns.

However, something very distinct in our country, especially in the Andean regions, is that we only have two main seasons throughout the year:

  • Dry Season: This season lasts from the end of April until the end of September. During this time, the first rains start to appear, but overall, it is the best period to visit our region and explore the breathtaking Machu Picchu while avoiding weather-related inconveniences.
  • Rainy Season: This season extends from October until the end of April. During this period, we advise all visitors to pack their belongings in waterproof bags, as the weather can change quickly—sunny mornings can turn into heavy rain in just a few hours.

We understand that extreme climates exist worldwide, but this should not deter us from the desire to explore the world, discover marvelous cultures, and interact with them. Welcome to Peru and Machu Picchu!

This mountain is located within the Machu Picchu Archaeological Park, rising 300 meters above the Machu Picchu Inca Citadel. The hike takes approximately 45 minutes up and another 45 minutes down.

Huayna Picchu Mountain preserves several archaeological remains, including the Moon Temple and other structures connected by authentic Inca trails, steps, tunnels, and naturally formed caves, making the journey even more fascinating. Undoubtedly, this is one of Machu Picchu’s top attractions. From the summit, Huayna Picchu offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Machu Picchu Inca Citadel, Machu Picchu Mountain, and the famous Sun Gate (Inti Punku).

Currently, the Peruvian government, through the Ministry of Culture, regulates daily visitor access to the mountain. Only 400 tickets are available per day, divided into two groups of 200 each. The first entry slot is from 7:00 to 8:00 AM, and the second from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Due to its increasing popularity, we highly recommend booking at least three months in advance to secure your visit to this extraordinary place.

This mountain is also located within the park and is only a 1 hour and 20-minute hike on your own. Once you reach the summit, you’ll capture stunning photos with panoramic views of the entire valley where the Machu Picchu Inca Citadel is situated. You’ll also enjoy breathtaking views of the Andes Mountain range and the glaciers that protect this unique ecosystem.

The demand for permits to hike this mountain is rapidly increasing. For this reason, we recommend booking at least two months in advance, as there is a daily visitor limit for this incredible experience. The hike has two entry schedules: the first from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, and the second from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, with a maximum of 200 people per group.
