Itinerary
Your Sacred Valley adventure begins at 7:30 am at your Cusco hotel. From there, we’ll drive to the Taray viewpoint, offering an awesome view of the Sacred Valley. After a brief stop, we’ll continue for about 30 minutes to the Pisaq Inca site for a private walking tour, exploring one of the largest Incan cemeteries with over 3000 tombs and impressive Inca buildings.
Following our visit to Pisaq, we’ll drive down to the ancient town of Pisaq, then proceed to Urubamba for lunch. Later, a 30-minute drive takes us to the mesmerizing salt mines, offering marvelous views and a chance to purchase souvenirs. We’ll then head to the Moray Inca site, considered an Inca laboratory, before a 40-minute drive to Ollantaytambo.
Around 4:30 pm, you’ll arrive in the ancient Inca town of Ollantaytambo. Here, you can climb a small hill to explore the magnificent Inca stone structures and impressive buildings abandoned when the conquistadors approached in the 15th century. Finally, after the day tour, we’ll drive you to your hotel in Ollantaytambo (Tunupa Lodge or El Albergue). You’ll have dinner in a restaurant near your hotel.
The tour starts in Ollantaytambo with breakfast at the hotel (included). At 7:15 am, our Kenko Adventures staff or your professional tour guide will pick you up from your hotel. We’ll walk to Ollantaytambo train station to catch our expedition-class train at 7:45 am.
The 1 hour and 10 minutes train ride will showcase the stunning Andes Mountains, dense vegetation, narrow valleys, and glacier peaks of the Sacred Valley. After an hour, the scenery will shift as we enter tropical forests, reaching KM 104. Here, you’ll disembark to check in for the short Inca Trail hike. Don’t forget your passports!
The second part of the tour is a 4-hour uphill hike, exploring Chachabamba and Wiñayhuayna. The trail is initially moderate uphill, offering impressive Andean views, tropical forest mountains, and native vegetation until reaching Wiñayhuayna Inca site. Lunch (box lunch included) will be at the 4-day hiker’s campsite.
The third part takes you through the Sun Gate to Machu Picchu. It’s a 2-hour hike, with the first hour being almost flat and the last 30 minutes uphill. At the Sun Gate, you’ll enjoy an amazing view of Machu Picchu. Afterward, you’ll hike down to Machu Picchu, where you’ll experience the beauty of the site at your arrival time, concluding your hiking trail.
Once done at Machu Picchu, your guide will lead you to the bus station for a bus to Aguas Calientes. Your hotel, Ferre Hotel Machu Picchu (or similar), awaits. Dinner (included) and celebration will be in a nearby restaurant.

The climate in our country is highly variable and does not follow the traditional four seasons. Here, in just one day, you can experience all four seasons! That’s why we recommend our visitors be prepared for any weather conditions, whether rain or sunshine.
A very important factor affecting our climate is global warming, which has become a major concern due to the melting glaciers in the Peruvian Andes. This phenomenon also impacts the usual weather patterns.
However, something very distinct in our country, especially in the Andean regions, is that we only have two main seasons throughout the year:
- Dry Season: This season lasts from the end of April until the end of September. During this time, the first rains start to appear, but overall, it is the best period to visit our region and explore the breathtaking Machu Picchu while avoiding weather-related inconveniences.
- Rainy Season: This season extends from October until the end of April. During this period, we advise all visitors to pack their belongings in waterproof bags, as the weather can change quickly—sunny mornings can turn into heavy rain in just a few hours.
We understand that extreme climates exist worldwide, but this should not deter us from the desire to explore the world, discover marvelous cultures, and interact with them. Welcome to Peru and Machu Picchu!

This mountain is located within the Machu Picchu Archaeological Park, rising 300 meters above the Machu Picchu Inca Citadel. The hike takes approximately 45 minutes up and another 45 minutes down.
Huayna Picchu Mountain preserves several archaeological remains, including the Moon Temple and other structures connected by authentic Inca trails, steps, tunnels, and naturally formed caves, making the journey even more fascinating. Undoubtedly, this is one of Machu Picchu’s top attractions. From the summit, Huayna Picchu offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Machu Picchu Inca Citadel, Machu Picchu Mountain, and the famous Sun Gate (Inti Punku).
Currently, the Peruvian government, through the Ministry of Culture, regulates daily visitor access to the mountain. Only 400 tickets are available per day, divided into two groups of 200 each. The first entry slot is from 7:00 to 8:00 AM, and the second from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Due to its increasing popularity, we highly recommend booking at least three months in advance to secure your visit to this extraordinary place
This mountain is also located within the park and is only a 1 hour and 20-minute hike on your own. Once you reach the summit, you’ll capture stunning photos with panoramic views of the entire valley where the Machu Picchu Inca Citadel is situated. You’ll also enjoy breathtaking views of the Andes Mountain range and the glaciers that protect this unique ecosystem.
The demand for permits to hike this mountain is rapidly increasing. For this reason, we recommend booking at least two months in advance, as there is a daily visitor limit for this incredible experience. The hike has two entry schedules: the first from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, and the second from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, with a maximum of 200 people per group.
