The climate in our country is highly variable and does not follow the traditional four seasons. Here, in just one day, you can experience all four seasons! That’s why we recommend our visitors be prepared for any weather conditions, whether rain or sunshine.
A very important factor affecting our climate is global warming, which has become a major concern due to the melting glaciers in the Peruvian Andes. This phenomenon also impacts the usual weather patterns.
However, something very distinct in our country, especially in the Andean regions, is that we only have two main seasons throughout the year:
- Dry Season: This season lasts from the end of April until the end of September. During this time, the first rains start to appear, but overall, it is the best period to visit our region and explore the breathtaking Machu Picchu while avoiding weather-related inconveniences.
- Rainy Season: This season extends from October until the end of April. During this period, we advise all visitors to pack their belongings in waterproof bags, as the weather can change quickly—sunny mornings can turn into heavy rain in just a few hours.
We understand that extreme climates exist worldwide, but this should not deter us from the desire to explore the world, discover marvelous cultures, and interact with them. Welcome to Peru and Machu Picchu!
